It features more than 50 downtown merchants at the event. This year’s event takes place on Friday, December 2, 2022, lasting all day until 9pm. Durango, Colorado, USA - August 12, 2007: The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad train, pulled by steam locomotive number 482, traverses the 'mini-highline', a rock shelf where the train track follows the edge of a small cliff in the Animas River Gorge between Durango and Silverton, Colorado. It’s a tradition that you won’t want to miss if you find yourself lucky enough to be nestled in the San Juan Mountains during the Christmas holidays. Now, 20 years later, the Durango community still comes together to celebrate local business and participate in the largest Christmas party of the season. Its purpose was to raise up and support community businesses during the holiday season who were devastated by the fires and lack of patronage for much of the year’s fire season. Durango’s Noel Night had a tragic beginning in 2002 as a response to a wildfire that had burned in and around town, impacting local and independent businesses.
